[lang_en]A matrix of interactive ’tiles’ form a multitouch platform embedded into the walkway infront of the Met Loft Apartments in Los Angeles. Walking on these tiles doesn’t just light them up but the pattern is mirrored by the 18×6 matrix display mounted on the building’s facade. A camera recording a view of the building enables people activating this installation to see the effect of their activity through a screen.

The Electroland group chose for this particular project to apply the matrix display onto the building rather than using it’s windows or openings probably due to the particular distribution of these openings. This is an interesting example of how reflecting human activity can be used as a playfull activity or as a ‘pass-by’ gauge.[/lang_en]

Very interesting project by Sascha Pohflepp, Echo is focused around the renaming of streets in Berlin and the communication issues driving and consequence of these changes. Rendering immaterial historical changes like the street names is the aim of this project.

These representations pivot around the actual streetname-pole, the final effect is bright shadow-like traces on the pavement obtained thanks to reflective coating.

Particular care has been given to the visual semantics of this representation using the angle of the shadows as a circular timline reference.
